Visitteo is a car rental price comparison website.

This page explains, in plain terms, where our data comes from, how we collect and update it, how we rank results, how we make money, and where our data can be wrong. We publish this so you can judge for yourself how much to trust what you see.

Where our data comes from

We use two kinds of data on Visitteo, and they come from different places. Knowing which is which helps you understand how much weight to give each.

1. Car rental data: our booking partners

Everything you see on our car rental landing pages comes from our booking partners: Discover Cars and EconomyBookings. This covers prices, availability, car models and categories, rental conditions, and the statistics we show, such as price ranges and average rates.

We don’t collect this data by hand, and we don’t copy it from other websites. It flows directly from our partners into Visitteo.

How the API integration works

We connect to our partners through API integrations. When you search, Visitteo sends your request (location, dates, and preferences) to the partners’ systems and receives the current offers back. Those offers are what we display.

This means:

• Prices are live. We don’t store old price lists and present them as current.
• Availability is live. If a car is no longer available at the partner, it drops out of the results.
• We don’t edit offers. We don’t raise, lower, or round prices. What the API returns is what you see.

Car rental companies behind the offers

Our partners aggregate offers from many car rental companies. Visitteo does not have direct contracts with those individual companies. The rental company you actually rent from is shown on each offer, and its terms apply to your booking.

2. Everything else: Google, official sources, and reliable websites

Content that isn’t a car rental offer, such as destination guides, airport and pickup location details, driving rules, and travel requirements, comes from three types of sources:

• Google, for locations, addresses, maps, and general reference information.
• Official and administrative sources, such as government websites, airport operators, tourism boards, and road authorities. We treat these as the most authoritative source for rules and requirements.
• Reliable websites, meaning established publications and organizations with a track record of accurate reporting. We don’t rely on anonymous forums, unsourced blogs, or content farms.

Manual checks

API data updates automatically, but the rest of our content needs people. Our team manually reviews guides and location information before publishing, and re-checks them when a source changes. When sources disagree, we go with the official source. If we can’t verify a fact, we leave it out.

What we never do

• We don’t invent prices or estimate rates.
• We don’t fill gaps in the data with guesses.
• We don’t show offers that the API didn’t return.
• We don’t publish fake or placeholder reviews.

If the data isn’t there, the page says nothing rather than something made up.

What we collect and show

Car rental offers

For each offer, we display what the API provides: the price and currency, car category and example models, transmission type, fuel policy, mileage limits, deposit amount, included insurance and coverage, pickup and drop-off locations, and availability.

Statistics

Price ranges, average daily rates, and availability figures on our pages are calculated from partner API data. They reflect what was returned for the searches and periods described on each page, not a guarantee of what you will pay.

Location and destination information

Airport and city pickup points, country-specific rental information, and driving requirements come from the Google, official, and reliable sources described above.

How we use the data

Combining partner data

We collect offers from our partners through their APIs and combine them in one place. Instead of showing each partner’s results separately, we put them side by side so you can compare the same car across different rental companies and booking partners.

Creating our own statistics

From the combined data, we calculate our own figures, including:

• Price ranges and average prices for a destination, car category, or rental period.
• Price differences for the same car between rental companies and booking partners, and between locations or dates.
• Availability figures, such as how many cars are offered in a category.
• Percentages, such as how much cheaper one option is than another.

These numbers are calculated by Visitteo from partner data. Partners don’t supply or approve them, and they are not published by the partners themselves.

Statistics vs. live offers

The figures on our landing pages are based on partner data from the past 48 hours. They show recent trends and are not live quotes. Live offers in search results are always fetched in real time and shown exactly as the partner returns them. We never change an offer’s price, and our statistics never replace it.

How we present it

We show this data in our own design, with charts, tables, and comparisons built to make it easier to read. We change how the data looks, not what it says.

How often we update

Car rental pages: real time

Prices and availability are fetched in real time each time you search. There is no fixed refresh schedule for these, because the data is requested fresh.

Cached data

To keep pages fast, the price ranges, averages, and other statistics on our landing pages are based on partner data from the past 48 hours. This is a rolling window, so older data drops out as new data comes in.

Landing page figures show recent trends and are not live quotes. They never replace live prices in search results, which are always fetched in real time. Whatever the partner’s checkout shows when you book is the final price.

Guides and static content

Every guide and information page carries a visible “Last updated” date. This is the date we last reviewed and confirmed the content, not just the date we first published it. We review pages on a regular schedule and immediately when we learn that something has changed, such as a new rule, a closed pickup location, or a partner update.

If a page has no date, treat it with caution and confirm the details with the official source.

A note on “cheapest price”

We compare the same car across the offers our partners return. We don’t compare the entire car rental market. A cheaper deal may exist elsewhere, including directly on a rental company’s own website. We show what’s available through our partners, and we say so.

Commercial relationships

How Visitteo makes money

Visitteo earns a commission when you book a car through our links. The commission is paid by the partner. It costs you nothing extra, and the price you pay is the same as if you went to the partner directly and made your own search.

How this affects, and doesn’t affect, what you see

• Commissions fund the site: the servers, the API integrations, and the people who write and check the content.
• We don’t edit prices, hide offers, or reorder results based on commission.
• Our guides and recommendations are written independently. We don’t accept payment to say something positive about a car rental company or a destination.

Why we tell you this

We are a commercial website, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. You should know how we earn money so you can factor it into how you read our pages.

Accuracy and limitations

We work to keep our data accurate, but no comparison site is perfect. Here is where you should be careful.

Prices and availability change constantly

Car rental prices can change within minutes, and cars can sell out between your search and your booking. The price on the partner’s checkout page is the final price, and it overrides anything shown earlier on Visitteo.

Extra costs at the counter

Some charges are set by the rental company and paid at pickup. These often include young or senior driver fees, additional drivers, cross-border travel fees, airport surcharges, one-way fees, child seats, and upgraded insurance. Not all of these are visible in the API data. Read the rental conditions on the offer before you pay.

Statistics are indicators, not promises

Average prices and price ranges describe patterns in past and current partner data. Your price depends on your dates, location, car category, how early you book, and current demand.

Third-party information can be wrong or outdated

Information from Google, official bodies, and other websites is only as accurate as those sources. Rules on driving licenses, documents, tolls, low-emission zones, and border crossings can change without notice. Always confirm requirements with the official authority before you travel.

Errors happen

We run automatic checks on incoming data and manual reviews of our content, but some errors will still get through, for example, a wrong photo, an outdated location, or a mismatched detail. When we find one, we fix it. If you find one first, tell us.

How we compare prices

We compare offers for the same car, so you can see how the price changes depending on who provides it. The rental company and the booking partners can be different. We also compare fuel policy, mileage limits, included insurance, deposit, and pickup location, and commission rates play no part in the comparison.

Visitteo is an affiliate website. When you click a booking link on our site and complete a booking, we may receive a commission from that partner. Links that lead to a booking on a partner site are affiliate links. We are a commercial website, and this commission is how we keep it running.

Editorial policy

Independence

Our content is written to help you rent a car with fewer surprises. Partners don’t review, approve, or edit our guides before they’re published, and they can’t pay to change what we write.

Accuracy

Every fact in our guides should trace back to an official, administrative, or reliable source. When sources disagree, we go with the official one. If we can’t verify something, we leave it out.

Updates and corrections

We review our content on a regular schedule and update it when rules, locations, or partner information change. Every page shows a “Last updated” date. When you report an error and we confirm it, we fix it and refresh the date.

Clear labeling

If a page contains affiliate links or sponsored content, we say so. Sponsored content, if it ever exists, will be clearly labeled and kept separate from our independent guides and comparisons.
